Mary Margaret Cleveland Hollar
Mary Margaret Cleveland Hollar died on January 26, 2013. She was born in Marion County, Alabama, in 1920, to Cecil Morris and Fred Wendell Cleveland. Margaret grew up in Hart County, Georgia, and lived most of her life in Statesboro and Savannah.
Margaret was a member of Isle of Hope United Methodist Church and the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was active in the GSU Symphony Guild and the Statesboro Garden Club. Her greatest treasures were her family and the happy times they spent together. Margaret shared her love of her Lord with her family and also shared her love of travel and sports. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and a good friend to all who knew her.
Margaret was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Charles Everett Hollar; her parents; four brothers, Max, Dan, Charles and Jerry Cleveland; and one sister, Ginger Crawford.
Margaret is survived by three daughters, Judith H. Stanfield, Georgetown, TX; Jane H. Rainey Jerry, Savannah; Anna H. Douglas Pat, Lake Harding, AL; six grandchildren, Scott Stanfield Cyndi, Berkeley, CA; Leslie Stanfield Bingham Jacob, Georgetown, TX; Paul Rainey Dana, Thomasville; Margaret Meg Rainey Douglass Mike, Columbus; Charles Leslie Douglas Kay, Cypress, TX; Marianna Douglas O'Dea Ryan, Maumelle, AR. Also surviving are her 11 great-grandchildren, Ben Stanfield; Sarah and Leah Bingham; Margaret Margo and William Rainey; Charles and Marsh Douglass; Lauren and Brady Douglas; Margaret Maggie and Hayden Anna O'Dea. Other survivors include her three sisters, Betty Allsop, Helen Fordham and Ann Strickland.
A memorial service to celebrate Margaret's life will be held at Isle of Hope United Methodist Church on Friday, February 1, 2013, at 1:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Isle of Hope UMC Missions Fund, 412 Parkersburg Road, Savannah, GA 31406.
